Message from Governor Jimmy McCorlew
Kiwanis members, K-Family leaders, friends and guests,
Thank you for visiting our Georgia District of Kiwanis website.
The Great Georgia District of Kiwanis was chartered in 1918, three years after Kiwanis International. We are very proud to be the sixth District of Kiwanis International.
Our Georgia District Theme for this 2014-15 Kiwanis Year is “Celebrating Kiwanis’ Centennial In Service” and our logo features a Kiwanian and little girl passing balloons.
As almost everyone has known for about 100 years now, Kiwanis is one of the greatest service organizations in the world. Kiwanis members stage about 150,000 service projects annually, have about 6 million service hours doing so and raise about $100 million every year for their communities and other needs.
On our logo, we have it so one cannot determine if the Kiwanian is passing the balloons to the little girls for an accomplishment or the little girl is passing the balloons to the Kiwanian for a Century of Service. They may well be passing the balloons to each other for both reasons.
This year is a very exciting time for us as we will be “Celebrating Kiwanis’ Centennial In Service,” and we hope you join us if you are looking for a great service organization to become a part of. Kiwanis is fun! You will have the opportunity to serve others through the great organization we are, and you’ll enjoy networking, creating great and enduring friendships and learning leadership skills in educational programs.
Please contact us if you are interested in joining our Great District of Kiwanis International. We look forward to hearing from you.
